  • 1. How do I write a concluding paragraph?

The purpose of a conclusion is to accomplish three things:

    1. Paraphrase your thesis. This should be the first sentence of your conclusion.
    2. Summarize the main points of your paper. This should be accomplished in about two sentences.
    3. Arouse your reader's emotions or inspire your reader to action.

  • 2. How do I write an introductory paragraph?

Introductory paragraphs can be visually represented by an upside down triangle. The paragraph begins with a very general statement about your topic. Just as the upside down triangle gets narrower as you move downward, so should the introduction. Just as the triangle ends with a point, so should the introduction. The point of your introduction is actually the claim.
